make / manufacturer: Ridgid

I bought this saw new at HD in about 2004 or 2005 and it has been a great saw. Old timers (of which I am rapidly becoming one) often say "they don't make them like they used to" but honestly, this is a better saw than Ridgid sells now. I use it often in a home workshop. It has always been in that shop on a stand or, for one summer, I had it out in a large tent in the front yard. Never any weather exposure. I wasn't able to find a model number on this, but it was the top of their line when it was new. I actually hate to give it up, and have put it off several times, but a Bosch 12" glider will fit much better in my shop and is a bit more of cabinetry saw, buying one puts me at my limit of miters saws. In fact, I have ANOTHER Ridgid 10" slider that I'll throw in for free. It runs out fine, but it is not in as pristine shape as this saw. And I'll leave the fairly new blades on both saws when I sell them. This one cuts very accurately. I've done crown with it and many other angles. Unlike the Dewalt and Hercules you can set the bevel on this without reaching around and it is actually a lot easier to set both bevel and miter than about any of the newer saws including the Bosch.

If you live in Lawrence I can drop this off with money in my pocket. This has a laser and as long as you keep batteries in it, it works and is fairly accurate -- though under the bright lights I have rigged above this guy, it isn't a great contrast.

If you are in the Antioch and College area of JOCO I am there a couple times a month and would drop it off with cash in hand.

Judging from other listings, I think this is a pretty fair price. I don't think it will last long.

CONS: This saw is as heavy as can be. Its not for carrying around to job sites unless you bench about 275. It doesn't have good dust collection (that tent I have behind it is awesome and doesn't go with it). It does not come with the Hercules stand but I highly recommend getting one from Harbor Freight.
